Roles

Use this page to create roles (for example Manager, Cashier, Accountant) and set whether each role is Active or Inactive. Permissions are configured separately on Permission — use the shield icon on a row to open the matrix for that role.

Open the screen: Sidebar → SecurityRoles

Permissions live on another screen

Creating a role does not grant access by itself. After you add a role, tap Manage Permissions (shield) or go to SecurityPermission and tick the modules that role needs.

Roles list

What it does

Shows all roles with ID, name, status, and actions. Filters apply on the loaded list — there is no pagination.

Step-by-step

  1. Open SecurityRoles.
  2. Wait if the table shows Loading....
  3. Use filters to narrow the list (see table below).
  4. Read the table — Id, Role Name, Status, and Actions.
  5. Tap the refresh button to reload — toast: Refreshing Roles / Roles data is being refreshed.
  6. Read the footer — Showing X of Y roles.

Find inactive roles

Set Status to All or Inactive — the page opens on Active by default.

Common mistakes / FAQs

  • I see “No roles found”. Clear Search or set Status to All.
  • Red or yellow banner above the table. API failed — read the message; you may lack permission to load roles.
  • Add Role, Edit, or shield are disabled. Ask your administrator for CREATE or UPDATE permission on Roles.
  • Can I delete a role? No — set Inactive on Edit Role instead.

Add a role

What it does

Creates a new role with a name. New roles are saved as Active. The Add Role dialog has only the name field — no status toggle.

Step-by-step

  1. Tap Add Role.
  2. In Add Role, enter Role Name (max 255 characters).
  3. Tap SUBMIT (or RESET to clear the field).
  4. When successful, you see Role created successfully and the dialog closes.
  5. Tap Manage Permissions (shield) on the new row to grant access.

Common mistakes / FAQs

  • “Role name is required”. Enter a non-empty Role Name before you submit.
  • Staff still see no menus. Set permissions on Permission, then assign the role on Staff.

Edit a role

What it does

Turns a role Active or Inactive. The role name cannot be changed after creation.

Step-by-step

  1. Tap Edit Role (pencil) on the row.
  2. In Edit Role, read Role Name — field is locked. Helper text: Role name cannot be changed.
  3. Toggle StatusActive or Inactive.
  4. Tap SUBMIT or RESET to undo changes in the dialog.
  5. When successful, you see Role status updated successfully.

Protected Admin role

The built-in Admin role (Protected badge) cannot be edited. The pencil stays disabled; the dialog shows Admin role cannot be modified.

Common mistakes / FAQs

  • Can I rename a role? No — only Active / Inactive can change here.
  • Staff cannot work after I set Inactive. Reactivate the role or assign a different role on Staff.

Open permissions for a role

What it does

Opens Permission with the role already chosen in Select Role.

Step-by-step

  1. Tap Manage Permissions (shield) on the row.
  2. You land on SecurityPermission with that role selected.
  3. Switch Admin or POS tab as needed.
  4. Tick or untick checkboxes, then tap Save Changes on the floating bar.

You need access to both screens

The shield requires UPDATE on Roles. Opening Permission also requires Read on Permissions.

Protected Admin permissions

For Protected Admin, all checkboxes on Permission are disabled.

Full steps: Permission.
