Recommended setup order

1. Overview - you are here.
2. Categories - menu sections, types, images, import, reorder.
3. Product attributes - create reusable attributes and values first.
4. Modifiers categories - group modifiers for easier assignment.
5. Modifiers - individual modifier lines, inventory flags, import, order.
6. Item Library - older full product list (create, edit, view, copy, assign attributes, bulk actions, import).
7. Items - newer item list with location overrides where enabled.
8. Variants - sizes and options for a product, each with their own price and SKU.
9. Item tags - tag categories and tags for items.

Categories

Menu path: Categories

Organise the menu into categories (for example “Mains” or “Drinks”). Add, edit, view, reorder, import from CSV, and set active or inactive. Set category type, images, and minimum age where needed.

Product attributes

Create reusable attributes and their values (for example size or spice level) with prices and display order. Link them to menu items after you set up values here.

Modifiers categories

Group modifier options (for example “Sauces” or “Toppings”) before you add individual modifiers. Set mandatory, single-select, and maximum selection rules per group.

Modifiers

Create and maintain each modifier line, track inventory where needed, import from CSV, and change display order. Attach modifiers to items after categories are set up.

Item Library (legacy)

Menu path: Item Library

Older product list some teams still use. Newer work may use Items instead. Supports create, edit, view, copy, assign attributes, bulk actions, reorder, and import.

Items (new)

Menu path: Items

Main place for menu items with names, prices, images, categories, and often per-store overrides. Prefer this screen when extending the menu going forward.

Variants

Menu path: Variants

Manage sizes and options (for example Small / Medium / Large) for a product, each with its own price, SKU, and optional stock tracking. Open a product from the Variants screen, or set them up inline inside Items on Pricing & Options → Use Variants — both lead to the same variant data.

Item tags

Manage tag categories and tags for organising items. This is separate from Tags under Settings — check the screen title if you are unsure which screen you need.

Tips

• Follow the recommended setup order above — categories and attributes before items and modifiers.
• Use Save, Update, or Submit when the page offers it before leaving.
• If a control is disabled, you may lack permission or a required field may be empty.
• Long lists: use search and pagination at the top or bottom of the table.
