Table Configuration

πŸ”’ Manager only - Table Configuration is where managers create and manage every table in the venue. Each table gets a name, type, shape, seating capacity, and availability settings. Tables configured here appear on the POS floor plan and in the reservation booking screen.

Opening Table Configuration

Tap Operations β†’ Table Management in the POS navigation.

The page opens with a stats overview at the top and a list of all tables grouped by type below.

Stats overview

Four cards summarise your current table setup at a glance:

CardWhat it shows
Total TablesCount of all tables, active and inactive
Active TablesCount of tables currently set to Active
Total CapacitySum of maximum seats across all tables
Table TypesNumber of distinct table types configured

View modes

Tap the view toggle buttons to switch between:

  • List - tables grouped by type, shown as cards in a grid
  • Floor Layout - a visual canvas showing table positions on the floor plan

Both views are available as long as at least one table exists.

List view

Tables are grouped by table type (e.g. Indoor, Outdoor, Bar). Each group shows the type name and how many tables are active in that type.

Each table card shows:

  • Name - the table's display name (e.g. "Table 4", "Bar 1")
  • Status indicator - green dot for Active, red dot for Inactive
  • Seats - minimum–maximum range (e.g. 2–4)
  • Shape - the table's shape (e.g. Rectangle, Circle)
  • Online badge - shown in green if the table is available for online reservations
  • In-store badge - shown in blue if the table is available for POS bookings

Each card has three action buttons:

ButtonWhat it does
EditOpens the Edit Table dialog with all fields pre-filled
QRDownloads a QR code PDF for this table (for table-side ordering or check-in)
DeletePermanently removes the table after confirmation

Floor Layout view

The floor layout shows a zoomable canvas with all tables positioned spatially. Tables are rendered with their configured shape, chair positions, name, and seat range.

  • Use the zoom controls to zoom in (up to 200%) or out (down to 40%).
  • Tables without a position set are listed in a warning at the bottom of the canvas.
  • Table positions are set in the Table Planner in the admin portal - see Table Planner - Admin Reference.

INFO

The floor layout in the POS is read-only for viewing. To reposition tables on the floor plan, use the Table Planner in the admin portal.

  1. Tap Add Table in the top-right corner (or Add Your First Table if no tables exist yet).
  2. The Create Table dialog opens.
  3. Fill in the fields:

  1. Tap Create Table.
  2. The table appears immediately in the list, grouped under its table type.

When to use Available Online vs Available In-store

Use Available Online for tables you are comfortable letting customers book themselves via a website or app. Use Available In-store for tables you prefer staff to assign manually. A table can be enabled for one, both, or neither - a table with both off will still appear on the floor plan for walk-in seating but won't show as an option in the booking flow.

Edit a table

  1. Tap the Edit button on the table card, or tap anywhere on the card body.
  2. The Edit Table dialog opens with all current values pre-filled.
  3. Update any fields.
  4. Tap Save Changes.

Deactivate a table (hide without deleting)

  1. Open the table's Edit dialog.
  2. Toggle Active off.
  3. Tap Save Changes.

The table disappears from the POS floor plan and from reservation booking options. It remains in the list with a red status dot and can be reactivated at any time.

TIP

Deactivating is the safe option when a table is temporarily out of service (e.g. under repair). Deleting is permanent.

Delete a table

  1. Tap the Delete button on the table card.
  2. A confirmation dialog appears: You're about to permanently delete table [name]. This action cannot be undone.
  3. Tap OK to confirm.

WARNING

Deleting a table removes it permanently. If the table has existing reservations, the API will prevent deletion - complete or cancel all reservations for that table first.

Download a table QR code

  1. Tap the QR button on a table card.
  2. A QR code PDF downloads automatically, named after the table.
  3. Print and place it at the table for customers to scan for self-service ordering, check-in, or online menus.

Common mistakes and FAQs

Table types are not showing in the dropdown

Table types (sections/zones like Indoor, Outdoor, Bar) are configured separately in the admin portal. If none appear, ask your admin to create at least one table type before adding tables.

Max seats less than Min seats

The form will not save if Max Seats is set lower than Min Seats. Set Max Seats to at least the same value as Min Seats.

A table is not appearing in the reservation booking screen

Check that the table is set to Active and that the relevant availability toggle (Available Online or Available In-store) is enabled for the booking source being used.

A table is not showing on the floor plan

The table must be set to Active. If it is active but missing from the Floor Layout view, it may not have been positioned yet - tables without a position are listed in the warning section at the bottom of the floor layout canvas. Use the Table Planner in the admin portal to position it.
