Save an Order
Saving an order stores it so the customer can pay later - for example a phone order to collect in 30 minutes, or a dine-in table that orders in rounds. The Save / Print button at the bottom-left of the cart does this.
What happens when you tap it depends on the order type.
Save a dine-in order
For dine-in, Save / Print sends the new items straight to the kitchen and frees up your screen.
- Build the order on the table's cart.
- Tap Save / Print.
- The POS prints the kitchen ticket (KOT) for the new items and clears the screen.
The table stays open with the order on it. Open the table again any time to add more rounds or take payment.
TIP
Only items added since the last save are printed for the kitchen - the kitchen never gets the same item twice.
Save a takeaway or delivery order
For takeaway and delivery, Save / Print opens the Save Order screen so you can record who the order is for and when it is needed.
- Build the order in the cart.
- Tap Save / Print. The Save Order screen opens.
- Tap Search Customer to link a saved customer, or enter a Customer Name for a one-off guest. The name is required.
- Enter the Phone number (filled automatically for saved customers).
- Check the Pickup Time (takeaway) or Delivery Time (delivery). The POS pre-fills it with your venue's standard wait time - change it if the customer wants a different time.
- For delivery - enter the Address. The delivery charge is calculated automatically. See Delivery Orders & Charges.
- Tick Phone Order if the order came in by phone.
- For takeaway - tick Customer Present if the customer is waiting at the counter.
- For delivery - select the Expected Payment Method if you know how the customer will pay (for example, cash on delivery).
- Enter an Order Note if needed.
- Tap Save Order.
- Choose which receipts to print on the print confirmation screen, then tap Print - or tap Cancel to save without printing.
You see "Order saved" and the cart resets, ready for the next customer.
TIP
The default pickup and delivery wait times are set in POS Settings. A common setup is 30 minutes for pickup and 60 minutes for delivery.
Find a saved order
- Tap Orders in the navigation.
- Saved orders appear in the list with their customer name and pickup or delivery time.
- Tap the order to open it - add items, print again, or take payment.
See Orders for everything you can do from the Orders screen.
FAQs
Why is Save / Print greyed out?
The cart is empty. The button activates as soon as there is at least one item in the cart.
Do I lose the discounts and coupons when I save?
No. The saved order keeps everything exactly as you left it - discounts, surcharges, coupons, the linked customer, notes, and pickup time. When you reopen the order, it all comes back.
Can I rate the customer while saving?
Yes. With a customer selected on the Save Order screen, tap Rate Customer to record a rating before you save. The button is disabled for one-off guests without a saved customer profile.
The customer wants to pay now and collect later. What do I do?
Either order works:
- Save first, pay after - save the order, then open it from the Orders screen and take payment straight away.
- Pay first - take payment from the cart now; the order stays in the Orders list until it is collected and finished.
