Customer Display

The Customer Display is a second screen facing the customer at the counter. It shows the customer's order in real time - items, quantities, prices, and the running total - as the cashier builds it on the POS. Between orders it plays a promotional media slideshow.

The display is read-only for customers. There is nothing to tap or interact with on the customer side. Staff have a small set of controls in the top-right corner.

What the customer sees

The screen is split into two panels.

PanelPositionWhat it shows
Cart panelLeft (30%)The current order - items, modifiers, totals
Media panelRight (70%)Promotional images or videos

The cart panel only appears when there are items in the order. When the order is empty or between orders, the media panel fills the full screen.

TIP

If Show Only Media is turned on in the POS Customer Display settings, the cart panel is always hidden and the media panel fills the whole screen. This is useful if you prefer a clean promotional display at the counter.

The cart panel

Order header

At the top of the cart panel:

  • Customer name - the name on the order, or "Guest" if none was entered
  • Order number - the daily order reference number
  • Order type badge - shows DINE IN, TAKEAWAY, or DELIVERY

Items list

Each item in the order appears as a row:

What is shownDetails

VariantIf the item has a size or variation (e.g. Large), shown below the name
ModifiersExtras or options listed below the item (e.g. Extra Cheese $1.50 × 1)

Deal and combo items show the parent deal name with child items indented below it.

Order summary

The bottom of the cart panel shows a running total that updates as items are added:

RowWhen it appears
Sub TotalAlways
DiscountWhen a discount is applied - shows the percentage if percentage-based
Coupon DiscountWhen a coupon code is applied
SurchargeWhen a surcharge is applied - shows the percentage if percentage-based
TaxEach tax type listed separately with name and inclusive/exclusive label
TotalAlways - bold, large font
Pay by Cash / You save $XWhen a cash discount is available - shown in a blue box with green savings banner
Paid / OutstandingWhen a partial or full payment has been made - green for paid, orange for outstanding

The media panel

The media panel plays a slideshow of promotional images and videos between and during orders. Content is managed in the Admin Portal and assigned to a media group in POS → Settings → Customer Display.

  • Images and videos rotate automatically at the interval configured in the POS settings (default: every 5 seconds).
  • Videos play automatically with no sound.
  • If no media has been set up yet, the Pratham logo is shown.

The aspect ratio of media shown adjusts automatically:

  • 5:4 when the cart panel is visible (to fit the narrower space)
  • 16:9 when the cart panel is hidden and media fills the full screen

Cash discount screen

When a cash discount is available on the current order and Show Cash Discount Screen is enabled in the POS settings, the media panel is replaced by a full-screen cash discount display showing:

  • The discounted cash total in large text
  • The original card/online price (struck through) and the cash price side by side
  • The saving amount (e.g. "Pay by cash & save $4.50")
  • A discount badge showing the percentage off

This screen appears automatically when the cashier adds a cash discount and disappears when the order is cleared.

Thank you screen

When an order is paid, a Thank You screen appears briefly on the customer display - a celebration animation with "Thank You!" and an "Order Confirmed" badge. It dismisses automatically after 5 seconds. No action is needed from staff or the customer.

INFO

The thank you screen only appears when Show Only Media is turned off. If you have enabled Show Only Media, the display returns to the media slideshow when payment is taken.

Setting up the display (first time)

When the customer display app is opened for the first time - or after a reset - it shows a setup screen.

  1. On the POS, tap Settings → Device Settings and note the IP address and port (default: 59590).
  2. On the customer display device, enter the IP address and port into the setup form.
  3. On Windows: select which monitor to use from the Display Screen dropdown.
  4. Tap Connect.

The display connects to the POS and moves to the main screen. It will reconnect automatically on every subsequent launch without needing to re-enter the details.

WARNING

The customer display and the POS must be on the same Wi-Fi or LAN network. If they are on different networks or subnets, the connection will fail. On Windows, Network discovery must also be enabled - see Display Connection Troubleshooting.

Changing the connection settings

If the POS IP address changes (for example, after the router restarts), update the connection details on the customer display.

  1. Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner of the display.
  2. Update the IP address and/or port.
  3. Tap Save & Reconnect.

The display reconnects immediately using the new details.

Connection status indicator

The top-right corner of the screen shows a Wi-Fi status icon at all times.

IconColourMeaning
Wi-FiGreenConnected - receiving order updates
Spinning syncOrangeConnecting or reconnecting
Wi-Fi offRedDisconnected - not receiving updates

If the icon turns red during service, the display has lost its connection to the POS. It retries automatically. If it does not reconnect, tap the gear icon and tap Save & Reconnect, or check the network.

Fullscreen mode

Tap the expand icon in the top-right corner to enter fullscreen. Tap it again to exit. On Windows, fullscreen mode starts automatically when the app launches.

On Windows, the display also runs in the system tray. Right-click the tray icon to show, hide, toggle fullscreen, or quit the app.
